Will Turkey's economy grow this year?
International credit rating agency Moody's has published its "Global Macro Outlook" February 2023 report. According to the report, it is stated that inflation in developed economies is expected to remain above the targets of central banks in 2023 and 2024, while inflation outlook differs in developing countries. In the report, it was determined that the growth forecasts for 2023 for the USA, Germany, France, Italy, Canada, China, India, Mexico, Russia, Turkey and Saudi Arabia were raised. In the report, it was reported that the 2023 and 2024 GDP growth projections for Turkey were revised from 2 percent and 3 percent to 2.3 percent and 4 percent, respectively, by taking into account the effects of reconstruction activities in the regions where the devastating effects of the Kahramanmaraş-centered earthquake were experienced. To put it in numbers, it is seen that the Turkish economy increased its growth forecast for this year from 2 percent to 2.3 percent, and its growth forecast for 2024 from 3 percent to 4 percent.
